Improving model performance

What to do when your model reaches the performance threshold

When Rayon shows that your model has passed the 80% performance threshold, it means the file is becoming heavy and may start to feel slower.

The core idea is simple: the more content Rayon needs to display and manage at once, the heavier the model becomes.

To improve performance:

  • Hide heavy layers — if a layer contains a lot of geometry and you do not need it right now, hide it.

  • Remove unnecessary content — delete unused geometry, old iterations, overly detailed imports, or large images.

  • Split into multiple canvases — separate floors, drawing types, or areas that do not need to be edited together.

  • Split into multiple models — for very large projects, divide the project into separate Rayon files.

  • Use Xrefs — reference supporting drawings instead of duplicating their geometry inside your active model.

A good rule of thumb: keep visible only what you need for the work you are doing.
