All about using the Sketchup Plug-in for Rayon

The Sketch Up plug-in allows you to send and receive clean 2D geometry between Sketch Up and Rayon, ensuring fast iteration and lightweight collaboration.

Export from Sketch Up to Rayon

• Export 2D drawings from Sketch Up into Rayon with a single click

• Preserves Layer/Tag structure, mapped to Rayon layers

• Extracts 2D geometry from scenes and section cuts

• Optionally simplifies geometry to reduce file size

Import from Rayon into Sketch Up

• Import Rayon drawings back into Sketch Up in one step

• Automatically extrudes walls and openings

• Recreates geometry as planar surfaces in Sketch Up

Installing the plug-in

• The Plug in can be installed by visiting the Sketchup Extension warehouse website

• Or by using the Extension warehouse directly from Sketch Up, see below

When opening the Rayon extension for the first time, a new tab will be opened in your default browser. Simply copy and paste the token into the Rayon plug in.

Importing a Rayon model into Sketch up

• Open the Rayon Plug-in in the Sketch-Up interface.

• Navigating to the model you would like to import (all your workspaces are available).

• Click on the import button located next to the title of your model.

• Tweak the settings or leave them as is.

• Click on the import button in the modal.

The import dialogue box will offer you a few options. You can leave them as they are or tweak them depending on your project.

Exporting views into Rayon

• Create a scene in your current sketch up model. Sketch up Support

• Click on the Rayon Plug-in Icon.

• Navigating to the folder / workspace where you want your Rayon model to be exported .

• Click on the export button.

• Tweak the settings or leave them as is.

• Once your model has been exported, you can click on Open, which will open a new tab in your default browser.

The export dialogue box will offer you a few options. You can leave them as they are or tweak them depending on your project.
