# Publishing a template

How to create and use templates

### What is a template?

A template is a model that will help you kickstart new projects faster. Templates are **available to everyone in your team** and allow you all to work in a standardized way by pre-defining:

* [**Styles**](/documentation/design/styles.md) (line widths, fonts, hatches, colors, etc.)
* [**Blocks**](/documentation/design/blocks.md) (furniture and other components typically used across your projects)
* ...and more: layers, units, canvases, paper canvas design, etc.

### The template tab

To find templates, open the **`Templates`** tab. Here, you’ll find two types of templates: those shared by the community and those created by you or your team.

The **`Community`** section offers ready-made templates for a range of interior design use cases. Simply duplicate a template to start using it right away.

The **`Personal`** tab is where templates that you or your team made are stored. Clicking any of them will duplicate the template.

### How to create a template?

* Start from a **model** that you want to create a **template** from.
* Inside that model, click on the **`Share`** button in the top-right corner.
* Select the **`Template`** tab and **toggle on `Publish as template`**.

### How to use a template?

Once a template is published, you and your team can find it in the **`Personal`** section of the **`Templates`** tab in the project manager. This section lists both your personal templates and those shared by your team.

Click a template to create a new model based on it.

Another way to quickly access your template is to head to the template dropdown, next to **`New model`**.
